Please help me! Advice from anyone would help me greatly! I am currently a 2nd semester sophomore at a university college. My major is Studio art, and my minor is left undeclared. And I don’t think I am headed in the right direction. I know it is late in the game, but I am struggling, struggling to come up with a set major, minor, and my life job after college. Please help.
I love art, preferably drawing anime/cartoon characters, sketching, painting. I came into college as an art major right away, unsure of what else I wanted to do. I am a hard worker, but get below average grades. Japanese culture intrigues me and I am taking the language class in college, and I want to study abroad next year to Japan. I like music. 10th year on the clarinet, and I recently picked up the flute, guitar, and bassoon. I’ve never been really good in high school at any other classes except Spanish, music, and art. I like anime, tennis, reading. I’ve met an international student from Japan this past year and he used to be a art major as well, until he changed his major to Global Studies.
Any suggestions??? I would be eternally grateful!

Thursday, July 29th, 2010Ok so I got a tattoo in November. I printed it out and gave it to the guy.
Its the Japanese symbols for Noah. ( Japanese culture means something to me ) And well he decided on his own to make a paint brush mark go up instead of down. So he wrote the symbol wrong.
I need it fixed but have been busy. I called and told them about it the day after I got it done. But my question is …. are they going to charge me to fix it?? Even though it was not my fault?
Ok BottledG person.
I know what it means my step grandmother is Japanese she wrote it out for me. And I know all these things that you mentioned duh.
And not that it matters to you but like I said Japanese culture means something to me. I dont have to explain that to you. I know what it says I had someone who has lived in Japan 80% of their life write it for me. So screw you on talking crap about something that means something to me. How about respect someone’s feelings to something they have chosen to get tattooed. Dont criticize it.
Oh and one more thing maybe you cant read but it didnt take me 4 months to notice this mistake…..

i've got this idea for my fantasy book ?
Thursday, July 29th, 2010right, but i’m little unsure?
i love japanese culture, but i don’t ant to move too far away from british origin, if you know what i mean –
the protoganist is an orphan who goes to a school of magic, and he see’s these ghostly warriors.
they have painted faces of white and elaborate regalia, quite like kimono, but obviously the men would be toned down alittle.
so they’re abit like geisha, but with boys and men aswell.
any opinions or anything guys? thanks!

Where can I find information about going to Art schools in Japan?
Monday, June 21st, 2010I’m currently in Canada, but I’m in love with Japanese culture. I’ve recently been given a good sum of money to put towards my post-secondary education (Thank you Grandma!). Before this, going to university seemed distant, and I was going to settle for college…
But now I’ll be able to do whatever I want. I’m 18, though I’m doing an extra year of highschool so I have plenty of time to research it. I would love to go to an art school in Japan, but I’m having a hard time finding information on how to go about applying and what prerequisites I would need.
Does anyone know where I can find this information?
what are some good japanese painters?
Tuesday, May 11th, 2010for art class we have to pick a painting, and i love the Japanese culture, i wanted to do it on famous painters, or any painters. I would prefer cherry blossom, mt Fuji or any outdoorsy art. but anything that you like would do. (oh! and a website with the actual picture would be GREAT!)
What is the name of this book?
Monday, May 3rd, 2010I think it’s pretty old and by now it’s prob out of print… but it’s kind of a tour through this 12 year old Japanese girl’s life. She lives in Japan with her mother and father and brother, who is in college. She’s very dreamy and loves art and painting. Her father i think carves stamps (out of wood…? i don’t remember exactly).
it’s a chapter book and i guess there’s a different story in each chapter. like she gets her first kimono and she goes to the 7-5-3 festival and the new year festival… she goes to kyoto with her dad and they visit the rock gardens and ride on a bus and see the geishas. in another it talks about the traditional japanese bathroom, with the shower and hot tub… in another she makes sushi all by herself for a surprise visitor.
i don’t remember when it was published, and i have no idea when it was set, because i don’t know how the wars changed japanese culture.
anybody recognize this? please help… i want to get it for my sister, who reminds me of this little girl. ![]()
It’s not Memoirs of a Geisha… That’s a "grownup" book, and this book is a chapter book for children.
I should have been more clear… when i said "a tour through the girl’s life" i meant just how her life is as a 12 y.o. girl living in Japan. not her whole life. lol
