Anyone good at analysing poetry?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Way below the rattle of dimsum carts
up in Soho, the spires of tired Pilipinas
potter about the thick trombolo of neon.
Misplaced geishas, they pass through faces
more simple and more broke, lacking
the ancient powder of while nightingale
droppings, that alabaster glow, beneath
eyes and brows penciled crimson and black,
lacking even a quick rosebud painted on their lips,
without magenta kimonos
or wooden pillows for split-peach hair,
without revealing the softly erotic
fork of skin, unpainted up the back
they wince and pull, digging fingernails into flesh
because everything is potential
clientele – this is no
teahouse engagement – they jack their knobby
toes on the sidewalk like the mangled kittens stalking
the same avenue hungrier and sicker but no less
desperate for a letter, a pay phone, a six pack
of pepsi or ticket back to Manila.
Now rain falls in shards and they are packed
into the covered stariwells and walkways as tight
as their client in cafes on vacation
in sun in vino in Florence, but here they squat
over newspapers, whole families
playing cards and plunging sturdy
fingers into tubs or peanut butter
from 7 eleven or circle K
amidst the sick flanks of day-old beef swinging
clockwise on iron-blasted hooks,
meat cleavers tossing scraps
of light and dancing deep into brutish lumps of pig feet
and eel and the enormous ox tongue there
hooked, for sale. They lick another evening of sweaty
air and dodge the air-conditioners,
spitting the clear and copious
residue of the night.

Can anyone analyse for me? what is it about?

What is this poem about?

Urgent: Horse Costume Class Ideas?

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Because I procrastinated, I have less than two weeks to think up an awesome costume. Here are some of the things I have done in the past.

Prom king and queen
Memoirs of a Geisha
A t.p’ed tree and a kid
Apollo and the chariot of fire
Dorothy and the Scarecrow
Racing Stripes

I really wanted to do something anime related, because I’m a nerd -_-; but I’m worried about no one knowing what I’m dressed up as. Ranma 1/2 and a panda sounds like a good idea, but I’d be scared no one would get it…….or maybe a combat waitress and an alien witch…………never mind……..

The class is judged on most original, so I’d rather not go with the cliche stuff…….

Oh, and my horse is a tobiano buckskin paint. White mane, black forelock, and black tail……….

Cost really isn’t an issue, but speed in aquiring the costume is……..

I would really appreciate any good ideas!

My extremely long favorite movie and anime list. What's yours?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

1. What are your favorite movies, cartoons and anime? (which ever apply)
2. Which movies do you wish they’d remake, and/or which books do you wish would be made into movies?
3. Is there a certain genre/type you wish they’d make or make more of?

I am also curious what people would think of my movie list.
Also, at the end of this I will write a crappy description of a movie I saw, if you watched it… can you tell me what it is?
I’ll choose a best answer, for the record.

My favorite movies:
Acts of Worship
American Beauty
A Walk to Remember
Back to the Future
Battle Royale
Benny & Joon
Changeling
Donnie Darko
Dragon: The Story of Bruce Lee
Enchanted
Fathergoose
Girl Interrupted
Juno
Keith
Kiss of the Dragon
Little Miss Sunshine
Marley and Me
Men in Black
Mona Lisa Smile
Monster
Mysterious Skin
Penelope
Phoebe In Wonderland
Requirm for a dream
Secretary
Sound of Music
Speak
The Golden Compass
The Host
The Juror
The Last Samurai
The Matrix Trilogy
The Notebook
The Secret Window
The Visitor
The Woods
Water Horse
White Oleander
Zeitgeist

Cartoons:
A Bug’s Life
Antz
Alice in Wonderland
Bee Movie
Bambi
Finding Nemo
Nightmare before Christmas
Spirit
The Lion King
Wall-E

Animes:
.hack//Root
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Elfen Lied
FLCL
Full Metal Panic

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Nodame Cantabile
Noir
Paranoia Agent
Paprika
Perfect Blue
Samurai Champloo
Scrapped Princess
Sexfriend
Valley of the Winds
Voices of a Distant Star
Welcome to the NHK

I wish they’d remake the movies:
Wizard of Oz
The Neverending Story

I wish they’d make these books into movies:
The Sight (David Clement-Davies)
The Abhorsen Trilogy (Garth Nix)

I really want more of these genres/types:
BDSM (serious, like Secretary but more explicit)
Realistic animes
Physcologic thriller animes (like Perfect Blue)
Non-"comedic" teen movies (like Keith)
Good storylines
Well thought out characters
..lol.

I wish I could find animes and movies that were not so typical. It’s not that hard to make a character a little more interesting. Instead of a pet dog, can’t they have a Figure 8 Puffer? Instead of liking to paint or read, why not like cosplay or studying telekinesis. Maybe a character who is curious about mythological creatures I don’t know.

What is this movie:
A nice looking pale blonde goes to Tokyo to.. start a new life? Because of some guy she meets in American? (I am putting questions marks because I am not sure.) She stays with some random girls(?) and works with them at a modern day geisha resturant(?). They all hate her cause she gets more men and money, and a girl even put glass in her soup, and tons of other mean jokes. When a girl goes missing she begins investigating, keeping an artbook diary to bring her closer to knowing what happened. She thinks she has the answer and it puts her in danger.(?) Then at the end the girl that was "missing" turned out to be safe and sound, at the same place the main character believed her to be. dead or whatever. Wow. Hey, I said it was a crappy description.
Add Alpha Dog and Signs to my list. D;

Ram, FMA has always been something I’ll never be willing to watch. As is Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach, etc. I admit there probably are some classics I should have watched, though. I dislike sports. What do you like though? lol

Ice-kun,
You reminded me. I wish they would remake Pokemon- for adults. Meaning I wish it was better dialogue and storyline, and some serious romance. And oohhhhhhh you like Clannad. Yay. -looks up a few of her anime faves that she hasn’t heard of-
By the way, I may have added His and Her Circumstances, Eureka 7, and Cowboy Bebop to my list of animes but I haven’t finished them. Hopefully someday I will.
psc,
You reminded me about Mulan, it is one of my favorite cartoons!

Check out ‘Perfect Blue’.

http://vidberry.com/ has animes you can watch for free. There are also some here: http://www.hulu.com/ (tv>animation) Those are two I recommend personally. There are places I have not tried: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=stream+animes+free&aq=f&oq=&aqi=&fp=Xmf0jJ9P_V0 You could look through those sites but I don’t know if they work or not. ;)

im a worried about my 18 year old son …he just seems a bit odd?

Friday, August 20th, 2010

im kinda worried about my son
he is always by himself , he has so interests
like boys his age would normally maybe go out and play soccer or something he doest do any sports he says that he doesn’t like them but how can a guy not like sports ??
he is into the arts and performance and im not gonna lie he is really talented he painted his own room it took him like 2 months to do it he did one wall like a Chinese inspired them like the geisha’s, koi ponds, cherry blossoms, bonsai trees and a temple

he doesn’t have any friends at least thats what i think he is always at home doesn’t go out anywhere

he doesn’t have a girlfriend …. although what worries me the most is the fact that i found some gay porn on the PC so im worried that maybe he is gay

we dont get along very well we have that love-hate thing going on
and i know that if i will talk with him about something that i disapprove like the arts and stuff he will "blow up " on me and we will get into a fight over it
should i just let it "fly " by and not pay attention to it ?
like he is 18 hes an adult so he can make his own decisions
and another thing that im concerned about
he really pays attention to what he is putting on ( the clothes) and all over personal grooming
he recently started painting his nails but only a clear color he said that this somehow prevents him from bitting his fingernails cause there is usually a bit pile or fingernails on the floor in his room

maybe im an old school parent ( im 51) and i was raised completely differently so maybe im just wanting him to follow the same steps as i did
im not sure

I'm a male and need advice with foundation/pressed powder to make myself look more pale?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

i have pretty much flawless skin, what you would consider pale – very pale but i need advice on using a foundation or powder of some sort that i can use to make myself look more pale. I don’t care if you say sickly, think of victorian white faces, not as white as a geisha though, i don’t wanna look like i’m wearing face paint :P could anybody give me some advice, recommendations and perhaps something that may hide imperfections in my skin too (small piercing scars, i have quite a few) thank you <3

I have a strange fetish and I really want to get rid of it?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I’m a straight man, and I have normal attraction to women.

However, I tend to have serious orgasms when women I know wear anything leather; stuff like heeled boots, jackets, pants, leggings, etc. I also have a strange fetish with women who wear mime/geisha/clown makeup. I find it very sexy for a women to paint only her face white, in contrast to the rest of her body. It’s more enhanced when they outline their lips and the white makeup with black. But I really hate it at the same time.

How do I get rid of this?

would you care to comment on this poem?

A BRIEF QUESTION FOR THE UNIVERSE’S CHIEF OF PROTOCOL
By C.S. Scotkin

When pain comes and visits
like a chain saw in a primeval wood
or like a flame thrower
in a garden filled with straw flowers,
is one obliged to be
a geisha with serenity
painted perfectly on her face,
ignore such dreadful manners
or should one ask the perpetrator
to leave…
You are right. A question mark would be better. You may teach me anytime. The more I learn, the more I find I have to learn. After a full 18 months of illness, surgeries, and finally retirement forced on me, I’ll have the time to learn!

my parents think that im too old for this . but i dont think that i am?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

ok so my parents think that maybe im too old to draw and paint
i love doing it it kinda makes me happy like when i have a bad day all i need is a piece of paper and a pen or a pencil
my mom recently found a lot of my drawings there was like a folder filled with 100 pages
i dont know why but there is something special about tattoos that i really like and thats why i love drawing design for my friends

i get my inspiration from the old ancient god like the Hindu , Greek and Egyptian i love doing all those gods and goddesses some old mythological creatures like i designed my phoenix tattoo my friend got a Medusa on her arm that i draw
also i like the old traditional japanese/chinese tattoo design like all those koi fish ,samurais, geishas, foo dogs, cherry blossom waves ,smoke etc.. are just wonderful

my parents think that im too old for doing stuff like that and that i should focus more on the education than some stupid bullsh.t

we recently moved ot our new house and my room is not finished yet and im doing a project there and i dont know how my parents will react at it but instead of paining the walls on one particular color i decided to do my own theme there my mom knows that im doing somethign there but she has no idea what as i locked the door and i keep the key
i started to paint on the wall im doing a Japaneses them of koi pond with a geisha sitting on the rock feeding the fish and on the background there will be a Chinese temple and some bonsai trees
i dont know how they are going to react on it but i love it and instead of doing graffiti somewhere on the street i can actually do something in my own room

so now the question is do you think that someone like me an 18 year old guy is too old to do stuff like that ??? should i find something else for a hobby
i know that most guys at my age are either playing sports like soccer, basketball ,baseball or are stuck in gym working out but thats not for me
everyone has a different taste in everything , movies, music, clothes ,hobbies etc…
